New to the Site
Just came across the site after a reference on another site. I recently purchased an XD 45 ACP which I am thrilled with.
Hope to particpate and pick the brains of the guys more experienced than I am. I am not young, 54 and th XD was a birthday present to myself. Viet nam vet, have several firearms and love to shoot and plan to get into reloading at some point. Thanks.

Welcome to the forum, and thank you for your service.
Do you have the 4" or 5" 45?

Welcome! For reloading the ROI (return on investment) is pretty good on the .45, since factory stuff is often pricey. If you think you are really going to shoot volumes, then the Dillon presses are worth it for being bullet proof
I have used single stage presses and with my short attention span I can outshoot my interest in reloading, but the price is often right. If you can find a used Dillon go for it. For the cheap - my territory - Lee stuff works very well. I have a Lee hand press that I use to deprime while watching TV, and then on a later day do a batch of sizing, and then on a another day do the case flaring. The Lee hand primer tool is a good thing too. So I end up with hundreds (ok, thousands of 9mm brass) just needing a charge of powder and bullet to be complete. At 54yrs, you have family members wondering what the hell to buy you (since you have it all), so ask for primers, or a pound of powder, or a set of dies. All fairly cheap in their own, and you get some real usable things! You can reload .45 brass dozens of times, shoot it until it splits then toss it. Service or Tactical model by the way? |

Thanks for the welcome and the information on reloading..I am very new to that aspect of shooting so I will definetly research and you have given me some good info to start out with. I have the 5 inch tactical and so far I love it. I have only put 100 rounds through it at this point but will be burning more this week.
