Hello from NY

Hello Everyone, I'm in the market for my first carry gun. After lurking around XD Talk and other pistol sites for a couple weeks, I think I have made up my mind . Looks like its going to be an XD40SC. Sound like a very favorable pistol. I want to thank you all for all the information.

Its been a long time since I have done any serious pistol shooting other than practice for handgun hunting. Going to be different the only handguns I have shot in the past 12 yrs have been scoped. I'm sure when I get the XD I'm going to need plenty of range time to get proficient with it. If they point and shoot as well as I have read, I'm sure I'll catch on quick.

Thanks again.

Welcome. The XD40sc is a great pistol. You won't regret it. I'm sorry to hear you're in NewYorkistan. I moved to phoenix 11yrs ago from upstate N.Y. My Dad had a hell of a time getting his ccw in N.Y. What part are you from?

Just north of Buffalo in Erie County. I've had a restricted permit for 26 years.( target and hunting). I decided to go for an unresticted carry permit in March. I asked for a personal protection permit. Then just stated that I was a permit holder for 26 years without any incidents and now I'm requesting that the restrictions be removed from my permit. Low and behold I got a letter in early July that my request was granted. So it was off to the Pistol Permit Clerk, and $21.00 later I was out the door with my new unrestricted carry permit. I was suprised it was that easy.

, Warsaw/Arcade used to be my old stomping grounds. Glad to hear it was that easy to get an unrestricted. It seems like a no-brainer to give it to you based on your history, but one never knows...
