Newbie in SC - XDTalk Forums - Your HS2000/SA-XD Information Source!

Hey gang!!

I have been lurking here for about a week now while I decided what handgun to buy for my first. I had already read about the XD line, so I was pretty much hooked on it, but not sure which one.

Well, I like to buy good stuff 1 time. I needed something I could possibly use as CCW later, so I chose the XD 9SC. Little did I know that they were so hard to keep in stock at a gun shop. I went in 2 weeks ago to look at them, but they were completely out of stock.

I went in yesterday and they had 1 left. Being this is my first gun, I figured this was a dependable and economical learining tool. SO I of course paid WAY too much for it

, but being that we have 1 dealer in town, and I do want to later do more business with them, Why not? So I bought it.

I also run a retail store here in town, and I appreciate it when people support the local businesses.

Well, I love to modify things, everything. I do it for a living on other people's vehicles

. I also figured that if I bought the 9SC, I wouldn't be able to do alot of modding while I learned more about shooting. I am sure I made a good choice. I know there is no laser/light for it, and no guide rod yet.

This leaves me more money for ammo, magazines, range time and the gear(range bag, cleaning kit, CCW class, etc.).

Seeing that my local gun shop doesn't stock the mags for these in 9, I will be doing biz with some of the outstanding vendors you guys have.

Just wanted to intro myself, and say that this is one of the most well behaved forums I have ever been involved with.

No, the idea is to NOT buy extras for the 9sc, but find a good used XD40 or 45 Service to buy

and then mod it
