Smile Hello from Michigan

Only have a minute, but I just joined the forum after purchasing my first XD on Monday. Took it for a test drive Tuesday and all I can say is Wow! I'm very happy with it and I'm looking forward to talking with other folks that are proud owners of XD's too.

Thanks for the well wishes. Sorry, in my haste I forgot to mention a few details. I got the 9mm in the Service model, black. It's the first 9mm I've owned. I have had many handguns through the years (had an FFL for three years) but somehow never tried a 9mm. Even though I like to reload I went for the 9mm because of the over-the-counter prices for ammo. I've only shot it once so far, but I was very impressed with the out-of-the-box accuracy (used Win Clean ammo). I was tossing between the Glock 19 and the XD. After comparing features and seeing the the XD had the loaded chamber indicator, cocked striker indicator, the very cool extras that are part of the "package", and the better price ($439 vs $530), it was a no brainer to go with the XD. I bought some Blazer Brass and Remington ammo today (115gr). I won't be surprised that it shoots these well too. Anyway, I'm not sure how old White Lake is, probably 100+ years, but it's only about 20 minutes from Walled Lake. Hope to talk with you again.

Hey cool, another guy from Michigan. It's on the other side of the state from White Lake but I've been there many times to visit my in-laws. Which XD (or XD's) do you own? For how long? Any issues or experiences that you can share? I have to say, even though I've only shot mine once since buying it Monday, I have been more impressed with it than any other gun I've bought. The proof being that I've never joined any talk forum for any other gun I bought. The accuracy was great and the trigger felt smooth for being new. I expect it will only feel better as I get more rounds through it. It has great features and I never saw anybody else offer the extras that the XD comes with. I'm not sure it will be small enough for carry (I bought the 4'' Service model) but that might mean I need to buy a sub-compact model soon. Currently I carry the Glock 36 but I'd have no problem betting my life on a XD of any caliber. Thanks for responding and I look forward to talking soon.

Hey alright, Hillsdale. I used to go over to that area years ago to fish in a little town called Reading. Very nice country over there. I feel for you about the house repairs, especially since it's keeping you from getting your XD as soon as you'd like. Hang in there. Which one are you looking to get?

Hey Tom,
I'm pretty close to Livonia. So you've been carrying the Service 40 even during summer. Do you have a particular rig you use to carry the Service model or do you primarily keep it in your car? Is "pistol gear" the name of the place you got your conversion barrel from? Do the barrels swap even up between the 9mm and 40, or do you need to change the recoil spring too? I just got my XD a week ago, but I haven't found anyplace that seems to sell accessories or extras. Do you know anyone that sells magazines for the XD's? Good talking with you, and it's good to know that I'm not the only one that walks around Wal-mart carrying criminal repellent.
