That's right! After 2 months of online research, buying way too many magazines (the paper kind), and talking to friends and LGS's, I decided to by the XDS as a first gun. I knew it probably wasn't the best choice for a first handgun, but I also knew that's where I would eventually end up!
When I brought it home, my wife rolled her eyes and politely asked if she could throw away all the magazines now. (No!) I aimed at all the bad guys on TV. I aimed at the cat. (I never aimed at the dogs!) (I don't like the cat much!) I kept it next to me everywhere in the house. I even kept it next to me in bed! And I hadn't even loaded it yet!
After 3 weeks of getting the feel for it, learning how to field strip it, finding a cleaning kit, and scrounging up enough ammo to make it worthwhile to go to the range, I got to shoot it! After the 2nd magazine I looked at my wife and said, "I am the
MAN!"
Anyway, I found this forum (and damn glad of it!) and hope to learn as much as I can about the XDS and handguns in general.
Salute!
