New member and future XD owner
Hi,
I was leaning very strongly towards a G19 for my carry gun. Today, my friend and I went to the range. He has a new XD .40cal w/ about 100 rounds through it. I had the chance to rent a G19 and an XD 9mm. At 21 ft., I was shooting about an 8 in group w/ the Glock. I switched to the XD and all of a sudden, my groups were about 3-4in. I was surprised how awkward the Glock was in my hand. If I closed my eyes and brought the gun up, then opened my eyes to check my aim, the POI would have been about 3ft. or more higher than I thought at 21 ft. The XD feels like my old Military Issue 1911. It is a lot more comfortable than the Glock and I could shoot it almost as good as my 1911 without ever firing an XD before. I know this will only get better w/ practice. Both of the XD's I fired were 3" versions. For a 3" gun to shoot and feel more like my 1911 than what I was expecting it to was a pleasant surprise. I think I will now be purchasing an XD 9mm. once I have saved up enough. Hopefully, the Dept. I am applying to will lose the old 92FS's they use and switch to the XD by the time I finish the academy. BTW, this is post #1. I think I will no longer be visiting Glock talk after today. |

Welcome. I've never been to the Glock site so I can't comment. However, I've shot a glock and I had the same experience. It just did work for me. I'm certain glocks are great guns but I too opted for the XD. Hopefully, you don't catch what I caught. I rediculous urge to buy every XD in a 40 and 45.
Breaking my wallet, actually, bending my credit card.
