Soon to be XD owner from Atlanta
Well, in the next few week's I'll be purchasing my first firearm, an XD 3" .40
Being that's it is my first gun, and I'll be carrying as soon as I receive my permit, maybe someone here can point me in the direction of a place where I can take some classes on using it? I'd also appreciate anyone helping me by telling me (providing a web link or something And (yeah, I'm an excited noob with questions), where are some good ranges in the North Atlanta area? I've been to Bullseye, but am hoping there are more out there to choose from. |

May I suggest you contact the NRA and ask for a list of instructors in your area. Start wit the basics and go from there. Don't carry a gun until you are ready to deal with the responsibility, both physically and psychologically. Carrying a gun is a huge responsibility, nothing to take lightly. Getting the permit is the easy part.
I would also suggest you attend and shoot some IDPA matches in your area. These matches will help you with the comfort level with the gun and building shooting skills. http://www.idpa.com/clublist.asp?state=GA Take care and good luck! Welcome to the forum. OS

Thanks for the info. Yeah, I understand the level of responsibility involved with carrying and gun ownership, which is why I'm looking for some instructors in my area. Thanks!

Two ranges that I know of are Ed's Guns at www.edsguns.com and Pannells up in Woodstock.
You can get a lot of good local information at www.georgiapacking.org for ranges, Georgia law, and general info. |

American Classic shooting range in Norcross is a nice place, friendly people. It's on Peachtree Industrial Blvd..
