Another New Michigander Here....

I just pulled the trigger on the XD-S .45 (Black)... I went to the range this eve. with my son, not to buy anything either!

After the recent XD-S promotional emails I have been receiving (great and very attractive marketing BTW) ... I had to stop at the pro shop and ask "Hey.. do you have any of those Springfield XD-S's in by chance?" Eyes lit up behind the counter and the reply was "YEAH.. just got another one in, it won't last long.. the others sold immediately." ... Not what I wanted to hear.

Looking at it, holding it, I didn't want to put it down... I pick it up tomorrow. I have to say, I must be old school. When Polymer frames came out.. I hated the concept, I felt they would be like Bic lighters, use them and then throw them away.... they seemed toy like. I have to admit though, I bought my 1st one a few weeks ago, the S&W Bodyguard .380 as a back-up secondary carry in an ankle holster. My main carry has been a Ruger Stainless SP-101 snub w/Crimson Trace. I do love this gun... The XD-S will allow me yet another main carry. The other pet peeve of mine is black... I am a Stainless guy. But feel that the Bi-tone mix is not very aesthetically appealing for my taste. Black it is... the Melonite slide, even on my S&W seems to already be marred. But this is a tool... unlike my Stainless collection of target pistols.

Sorry for the length and wordy post... just excited to get this XD-S and see how it feels with my range load Federal Hi-Shock 230 Hollow & most importantly Speer Gold Dot 230's. (I recently bought 500 rds of this for my 1911, not the short barrel version... doable or buy different?________)

Again... if you made it this far, I apologize for the length.. ; )

Congrats on your purchase! It's a great gun but feels different than a full size 1911. The recoil feels like it goes straight back into your hand and it has less muzzel flip than my 1911. I think you'll like it as much as I do! Also it's a GREAT CC gun!

BTW, Welcome from Florida!

AMMO Range and Carry?

How does or would it handle the Speer Gold Dot 230 ? They do make a short barrel version... but I have the standard as purchased for my 1911. I also have the Federal HI-Shock 230 LE loads.

Open to suggestions for carry... love the Speer Gold Dots in my SP-101 38Special 135 +p

Thanks... Ed
