New guy from Indiana

Well guys, like said, my name is Carl and I'm from Kokomo, IN. I am looking into buying a new .40 XDm and figured what better way to learn about them than to join this site. I have my CCW for 3 years now, but just turned 21 so figured I would put it to good use. I will just keep my questions in this thread for now so...

1. Like mentioned, I'm looking for a XDm .40 bitone and was curious on what most people preferred, the 3.8 or the original and why?

2. Also, in Indiana, they don't require you to take a class to earn your CCW, and I would really be interested in taking a class. I have been around firearms my whole life but just wanted to broaden my horizon a little bit. So the question is, does anyone know of any classes that are some-what local to me for CCW?

Thanks,

Carl.

Welcome to the board from Kansas.

I think you will like the XDm .40. I have an XDm 9mm and an XD .40. I have not had a single problem with either weapon, ever.

As far as training goes, contact your local ranges. Usually, they have classes available or can steer you in the right direction.

Good Luck!!

Welcome from WY/CO

1) I have the original 4.5...the 3.8 wasn't available when I got mine, but I think I would have gotten the 3.8... 4.5 to hard to conceal.

2) Wyoming doesn't require a class either. Have you searched for a local NRA chapter? They are usually good resources for any training.

Howdy. I'm originally from Indy/Greenwood, myself.
Something to think about might be asking the local PD. Ours does a free class every year.

Welcome from Kentucky. I have the XDm in .40, .357 (drop in barrel), and 9mm in the 4.5 and the 9mm in the 3.8. My thoughts are get the 3.8, the best balanced pistol I have found.
