    Continued 2.....

I relied a lot on the girl I was with at the time, which was a bad idea. It didn't turn out well. That kind of pressure should never be put on someone else. The only person it comes down to is you. You will determine your own health and success with treatment and you must take responsibility for yourself. Educate yourself about your symptoms, potential treatments (including "alternative" ones), etc. Sometimes it will be a "one day at a time" kind of thing, sometimes just getting through the next hour is hard, but eventually, it will be a "wow, I haven't even thought about my issues in a week!" Again, let me know if there is anything else I can do as far as answering questions, pointing you towards resources, offering advice....etc. God Bless,

    Casey

Obviously, this applies to anything dangerous: driving, using tools/heavy equipment, etc. I don't think being on medication makes you an irresponsible gun owner, but if you feel that a medication would cause you to be one, it probably is not the right medication for you anyway and you should tell your doc (not about the guns though, just that it makes your depression worse, etc.). I have been dealing with chronic depression since junior high and with anxiety/panic attacks since high school. For a while, I was a shut-in and couldn't get out of bed. With the right combination of medication, counseling and support from friends and family, I got through it. I am still dealing with it daily, but it is not debilitating and does not affect my daily life (other then the panic attacks, which occur maybe once a month).

Hey Nate, I don't use any IM services right now, otherwise I would hit you up. Stay in frequent, honest communication with your doc, that can play a vital role in coming up with the right drug treatment that works for you, and then eventually learning to live without it. Also, get some people who are close to you involved and have them talk to the doc too. I had no idea that the first med I was on (Paxil) was making me very irritable until someone mentioned it to my doc and she suggested we try a new med. I went through them all until finding Effexor. I was on it for 3 years but no longer take it. Combined with counseling, I was able to learn how to manage my depression and anxiety. I still have panic attacks occasionally, but have medication that I take only when I know one is coming. I agree that until you know how you will be affected by new medications that is a good idea to let someone else store your guns.

    Hey I'm Nate
Thanks for the reply. I still want to work it out with her, but some things you cant fix. I hope the doc can level me out more. So far the pills have been helping, with some therapy. Glad to see I am not alone man. I use yahoo and msn messengers, hit me up sometime. I would really like to know what you went through, and use some of the things you learned from it. fordrangerman2002 yahoo messeneger. ginn.nathan@gmail.com is my regular email.
