Taurus 1911?'s

I'm thinking about getting the Taurus 1911-B1 railed version. What do you think of them? I've read good and bad. This would be my first 1911. Thanks for your help

It's not a bad gun if cost is one of your factors of purchasing! I actually own a PT1911 with over 8,500 rounds...but then again, I own 4 other 1911's

What are you looking for in a 1911?

My first 1911 was a Taurus PT1911SS AR, and I'm glad I made the purchase. Well fitted, smooth operation, great trigger, more accurate than me, and if you can believe it, I have had zero misfires since Day 1. (I do use Chip McCormick's mags exclusively... Power Mags mostly.) I love my Colt MK IV Government Model but its trigger action does not compare to my Taurus.

Looking for something to start getting into 1911's. Want dependability and fun to shoot. Have mostly Glock's and a XD.

Bush-- This seems to be a very familiar/common question. I have been on the 'hunt' for a 1911 as well...and it's down to these two;

Taurus- $538
SA GI- $529

I've researched for over 2 weeks and have every thread that 'google' will produce on the Taurus. Basically trying to narrow the field to one...here's what I've come up with in a nut shell.

Taurus Owners--pretty loyal...although there is a tiny percentage that admit they had issues with the weapon...all tend to be fixed...however, Customer Service seems to be questionable. Overall 90% are extremely satisified. I would say 1 bad post out of 12 good ones. And trust me, the bad post is really bad and refers to the weapon as being a complete POS.

Springfield Owners-- Haven't read one bad comment yet. No major issues. The only issue between these owners was the decision to buy between the GI...MIL...or LOADED.

More knowledgable folks--please chime in...I'M ALL EARS!!!!!!

Hmmm.... get both

Seriously, as mentioned in your other thread, either one would be good. Any chance you can shoot both and see what you think of the action and trigger?

They had a couple of Taurus 1911's at the local realoading supply and I was suprised at the fit in finish of the guns. They weren't decked out like so many out there, but they felt solid and all the movement was smooth on it. The guy behind the counter ( a 40 year gun owner/reloader) was impressed with the quality/cost ratio of the Taurus.

There are lots of good 1911's Springfield, S&W, Sig Sauer, Charles Daly, STI, Para, Colt, Taurus, Rock River.

I'd look at the used market for my first one, most don't get shot a lot. My first Springfield was a "loaded" bi-tone I found used for a great price.

I'm not a rail person.... don't like them on a 1911, they make it ugly

In cost and options I think the Taurus would be a good buy. I think if I get one I will be pleased to start and if I choose another I will save my pennies.

Go ahead and get the Taurus, you won't be disappointed! Once you get accustomed to your 1911, you'll start having the disease and you'll want more!
