Being the new owner of Hanks 1911 Loaded - I do very much like it. Its my first, and there is something much more visceral about it as opposed to polymer when held in the hand and fired. I did look at the Taurus, but it just didn't seem to garner the same reviews and satisfaction that the Springfields did. I am incredibly specific about cleaning and maintaining my equipment, but do belive that everything at some point may experience an issue, based on that it was worth the extra few bucks to buy the Springfield.

Thanks again Hank!

I will be honest and tell you I was more accurate with the Loaded vs my XD 45 compact. Or maybe I was playing head games with myself. It sure seemed like it weighted better and I was able to get back on target quicker with the Loaded. Thoughts?
I felt that way first time I shot my Kimber Ultra CDP. I was more accurate with it than my XD-40, and the 40 has a one inch longer barrel.

Well when my wife shot, I saw the same thing, she was more accurate with the Kimber than the XD.

If you're not in a rush and you already know you like the 1911 platform, you might as well do it right the first time!
I have a 1 inch shorter sight radius on the Kimber over the XD. The kimber is also slightly lighter. However the wife and I are both more accurate with the kimber than the XD which we have shot 6x more rounds thru.

I think it has to do with the smoother triger action on the Kimber, the way the kimber is balanced and where the weight is on the kimber. I also think the sights are better on the kimber.

I will soon be upgrading the sights on the XD to see if that helps it.

I've got a case of the 1911 fever, and the PT-1911 might have to become part of the family here.

This are all good thoughts to keep in mind...

I'm now taking the Taurus off my list. I'm saving to purchase a SVI Limited gun for ISPC/USPSA. Need to sell a few things (Aimpoint M3 & Glock 20) to get some funds.

Good luck finding SVI mags. STI mags are easier to come by and all of mine work flawlessly. SVI mags are excelent, just hard to find and pricey.

My response to a similar thread last year:

"I've had 2. Total crap. First one broken after about 30-50 rounds fired, ejector. Sent it back to Taurus and then sent me a completely different gun. The hammer on that one broke with less than 10 rounds fired. Sent it back and they replaced the hammer and returned the gun to me. I immediately traded it in on my XD 45. Their customer service sucked. I wrote and called them and they never would call me to discuss the issues, just sent me more junk. crap, crap, crap!!!"

Basically, I would not trust my life with it. But if it's just for doinking with I guess it doesn't matter if it jams.

England- I was very close to purchasing one. But stories like yours and the boat load of others on Taurus Armed.net push me away from the counter and back over to Springfield. I wanted to give them a try...but with my luck...I knew I would be the one on here telling a horror story.

Without a doubt--they are good looking weapon and when they do work--they probably work flawlessly.

I just didn't want to take the chance. And yes I am well aware all weapons manufacturers have issues and the occasional lemon. The problem with Taurus is your percentage is a bit higher than others...and the customer service has issues as well--thats a negative (-2) two in my book.
