1911

I have the Colt and Taurus PT1911.
I have $1600 invested into the colt and $550 in the Taurus.
The Taurus shoots better than the Colt plus all the upgrades are free with the Taurus.

Thomas-

Very interesting statement. I wonder if anyone else feels the same way? I was at the range today trying out a Sprinfield loaded...felt great--fired awesome. Guy shows up with a couple of $2K Wilsons. He let me work the slide and inspect them. There was a very noticable difference in the fit and finish...the slide rolled back and forth very smoothly and it was very solid...nothing rattled at all. Only getting to fire a couple of shots with the Wilson, I did not see an improvement in my accuracy. I wish I had a couple of weeks with the thing to really compare it.

I left scratching my head.

I owned a Springfield Loaded and although it had a very tight slide to frame fit, it was not very smooth when cycling the slide. It was still very accurate, so I had no complaints. If I am ever going to spend that much money on a firearm, I would rather it go towards a long gun. I'll never be a good enough shooter to notice the difference between a $1000 1911 and a $2000 one, so I'll have to pass.

Again, very interesting. I guess there truly is a law of diminishing returns. For me I just wonder if I should hold out for a $800 weapon vice enter into the 1911 market with a Taurus or the SA GI.

I will be honest and tell you I was more accurate with the Loaded vs my XD 45 compact. Or maybe I was playing head games with myself. It sure seemed like it weighted better and I was able to get back on target quicker with the Loaded. Thoughts?

I don't doubt you were more accurate with the 1911 since it is heavier (beneficial for follow up shots and helps with recoil) and depending on which XD you have, could have a longer sight radius. I think you would love a SA GI, Mil Spec, or Taurus PT1911, but they could make you want an even "better" 1911. If you're not in a rush and you already know you like the 1911 platform, you might as well do it right the first time!

I have the Taurus PT1911SS AR and the Colt Government MK IV Series 80. The Taurus has better trigger action, and better fit and movement. I find myself more accurate with the Taurus. Don't get me wrong, I love both these pistols, but for the money, I feel I got more for the Taurus.
