Yes, 500 on that Officers Model is a screaming deal...IF...the mods were done correctly.

It appears that someone replaced the sights and trigger and added an ambi safety. Again...if done right...not a problem and might enhance its utility if you like those features.

Man....where ARE these deals on Colts? No Colt near me would EVER sell that cheaply. I guess I should be thankful there ARE no deals like that...I would have a much smaller savings account! LOL

I'll find out this afternoon if the mods were done right.

I'm taking a quick range trip in a few hours.

I've been messin' with it last night with a snap cap - and it appears everything is working smoothly.

But the true test is live rounds down range.

Well here are the details of the gun.

I went back to my shop and the gunsmith and I looked up all the details in the Gun Bible.

My new Colt Officers Model 1911 in .45 Cal.was made in 1985.

The finish is a Satin Nickel finish

It has Millett Series 100 Custom Combat Low-Profile Sights installed.

It has a Videcki Custom Trigger installed - it's a 3 hole trigger w/ over travel screw .

We can't tell what brand Ambidextrous safety is installed .. the safety's finish is either chrome or shiny Nickel.

I took it to the range and put a quick 100 rounds through it.

The gun shoots better than I do.

I'm a lefty so other than a couple of fliers - I'm consistently stabbing at the trigger making me shoot just a tad low and right.

For my age - that's good enough

Man i like this gun.

Sounds like a great buy.

My 1973 Combat Commander is also satin nickle. Someone told me that non-5 inch Colts in satin nickle were nowhere near as common as the 5 inch guns. Don't know if that is true, however, every ad for one on GB says "rare" or "scarce" in front of "satin nickle" on it's title - must be somewhat truthful!

I am still trying to decide to buy one of the new Ruger 1911s or splurge and get the stainless Colt Series 70 repro. I am leaning towards the Colt, but man....that Ruger is really nice for the money.

That is what I just did! Haven't gotten to put some rounds through it yet though.

Ohh...Nessie....that is the one!

Dead sexy!

Yeah...I want that Colt really, really bad. Bad enough to maybe trade my GI or TLE II for it.

I just love the original article....a classic pistol and I don't know why everyone avoids Colt these days.

Thanks. I was strongly considering the Ruger as well but decided I should start my 1911 collection with a Colt even though it was quite a bit more and harder to find. I got it off GunBroker because I have no self control and couldn't wait for someone local to get one in.
