That thing is GORGEOUS!

I am so jealous... I just put in my order with Nighthawk yesterday through my dealer. Looking at an 8 week wait. Going to be worth it though.

Could you give me a quick review on your other Talon? Also, quick review on your initial thoughts/impressions of the Talon II? It would be much appreciated.

Here are the details of my build... let me know what you think!

Talon II Bobtail Commander
Single Side Safety
Hard Chrome Finish
Crown/Bevel Barrel
Scallop Front Strap and Mainspring Housing
Naked slide
Delete Top Serrations ( leave plain )
Delete Checkering/Serrations (back of slide near hammer) ( leave plain )
Plain Rear Novak, White Outline Tritium Front
Thin Cocobolo Grips/Bushings

Larry and Paul @ Nighthawk have been SOOOOOOO patient and understanding with me thought this build. They seem like a very stand up company.

I have had nothing but good service from them. I bought both pistols used. The first was the Talon 5" Goverment model which came into California a few years ago so the pistol had the Mag extension allready added I don't think that pistol had anymore then 100 rounds through it, in fact the person I bought it from had never shot it . The pistol is just like the Nighthawk sight add is, it's fully loaded and shoots like butter. The Talon II is used and I will send it back to Nighthawk next week for a tune up and Diamond black coating (ION BOND). I just added that coating to my XD-45 and it is awsome. I have no idea how many rounds have gone through the Bobtail but I will tell you this it took me a hour just to clean the pistol it had caked on powder residue in the slide reliefs just a terrible thing to see on that type of pistol.
This is what the diamond black looks like-just the steel parts.

I thought bobtails were the dumbest thing I had ever seen until I picked one up. For some reason they feel so much better in my hand. That part of the grips has always dug into my hands on 1911's. The bobtail makes the 1911 that much better to hold IMO.

Congratulations on the Talon II. I like the Talon you have, as it looks like my Talon. I think Nighthawk Custom makes the finest 1911s I've ever handled. Enjoy!

Great gun man! I also love the feel of bobtails. Just that small cutout makes the grip fit perfectly in my hand.
I was wondering who did you have do that Diamond Black coating on your XD? I really like the looks of it and have been bouncing back and forth on what to do with my XD finish.

Send it to Springer Precision He will give you a fair price and Get you a break on shipping it back. I just went and shot the XD-45 today and the pistol just wipes off. I have decided to have both of my Nighthawks done in ION BOND ( Black Diamond) COATING.
