Shoulder holster

does anyone know where i can get an economical leather shoulder holster for my 5" 1911?

Galco makes the Miami holster but i really don't want to spend 140 it.

Thx

You can find some both at the Sportsmans guide and Cheaper than dirt. I believe Sportsmans has some "decent" ones. (under $70) Cheaper than dirt has some way cheap ones too. (under $40 I think)
But, with that I will caution you with the cliche "you get what you pay for". I've got two Galco shoulder holsters and I wouldn't trade them for any other brand. You might want to look on Ebay for one of these rigs and see if you can find one used. I got my second rig for $50-used but in great condition!!

1911 shoulder holsters

I have a galco shoulder holster and I swear by it. I realize they are expensive, but they are worth it. If you really wish to find an inexpensive shoulder rig, I have an Uncle Mike's vertical shoulder rig. It is nylon fabric, but it works well. I like it a lot - it isn't what my Galco is, but it is good and it functions fine.

Speaking of the Galco Miami Classic, does anybody know if the thumb snap can be used with the hammer cocked?? Some shoulder holsters I have seen require you to carry with the hammer down, which is not really the way I want to carry my 1911. Thanks

Galco Shoulder holsters

Galco shoulder holsters are made to carry the 1911 cocked and locked.

galco makes a classic lite:
Galco Classic Lite Shoulder System Holster
never ordered from that site, nor used either system, but its there.

i've shopped around for shoulder holsters.. if i was going to get one it likely would be the Miami classic, just based off the positive reviews i've seen on it... and it probably wouldnt be hard to resell if i didnt care for it.

cheers

I also have an Uncle Mike's vertical shoulder rig, what I love most about it is it fits underneath my motorcycle leathers and the vertical design makes drawing the weapon easier than a horizontal one. I do have a horizontal one that I got for $40, but that was ten years ago in a nice place called Sarajevo! My Uncle Mike's also allows me to carry my XD45 as well, which I carry more for self defense than my M1911...

Cheers! M2
