Springfield 1911?

Dear All,

I recently purchased an XD 9mm and am happy with it. I'd like to get a springfield 1911(was thinking of this model acctually Davidson's Catalog Item Detail=),
and all the places I've checked online seem to be out of most types of springfield 1911s. I was just wondering if springfield is no longer producing them, or am I just looking in the wrong places?

Regards,
Jesse

Yep. Both buds gunshop and gallery of guns got some in and it didn't take long before they were gone. Gallery of guns had quite a few too. Might check gun broker, that's where I got mine.

Seems like anything under $700.00 is gone fast.

The TRP Operator that was listed in the trading post for $800 was gone in a flash too.

That was a steal of a 1911!

So sounds like the best I can do is keep checking the web, and maybe check out the other nearby gun dealer. Thanks guys.

So, I ran into the same issue recently and my dealer called his distributor and got the scoop...or at least according to this person anyway. With the Loaded models and lower (GI and MilSpec) the frames are made in Brazil. Supposedly there has been some export law change in Brazil, making it difficult to get guns. They can still get XD's because they come from Croatia.

Take that for what it's worth, but that is what I was told. I've gotten a different story from every dealer I have come across, so I would say the truth lies somewhere in between the import/export issue and the high demand for SA 1911's.
