I Figured Out Why
I was shooting to the left on paper. I was cleaning my SA fully loaded 1911 when I noticed that the rear sight was pushed completely to the left. This used to be my brother's pistol, but I bought it off of him and he has always taken great care for his firearms. You can tell that it has been pushed to the left, but no sign of damage as if it had been dropped. I have never dropped it since I have owned, so I'm a little lost on how the sight could be pushed over that far. The sights are novak and you can tell on the slide where they have been pushed over. I was thinking of sending it back to SA, but it would probably cost more than just having a shop around here fix it. Any thoughts or suggestions? Any idea on how much it would cost?

RogueXD ~ Fully loaded is the Model, not the condition
OP ~ I would take it to a local shop, The shipping alone is more than most shops will charge for that kind of adjustment..

maybe your brother had the gun sights adjusted for him.
i'm not familiar with the sight on your 1911, if theres an screw on top of the sight to hold it in place, it may well have come loose, and the sight knocked over a bit. i'd use a nylon punch and hammer and drift it back over a bit and see if it stays. if it doesnt stay, you can pull the sight off, take a steel punch and rough up the underside of the sight just a little bit, and drop some loctite on it.. the red loctite iirc, requires no heat to break loose if need be, and put the sight back in. of course the other reason could be

Boomer-I don't have any issues with my XD, so I know it's the pistol sights being off. I'll have to call my brother and see what he says on the sights. You might be right, he could have had them adjusted. He's left-handed, shoots right, but left eye dominant.

At some point, the sights will be a second thought. Depending of how you train, a "feel" placement shot is fairly accurate..

I think that might be a clue.

That's what I'm thinking. I forgot to call my brother last night. I fell asleep on the couch around 8:40 according to my wife. I must have been out of it. I call him tonight and report back for anyone that is curious.
