well i'll put it this way they are no les baer's or wilson or any of the other high end makers but if i did my part out to about 15yrds (eyes arnt all that good past that) i could easily keep the groups around 3"-4" every now and then on a good day (for me) i could hit a few 1hole or touching groups. i'd say pretty damned accurate enough for ccw, home defense, ext. might not win any precision shooting competitions but the beauty is they are also a good 1911 platform to build on,but are great as they are depending on how you feel about gi sights but hell buy yourself a set of sights and pay a gunsmith the 40-60 bucks to put them on and your good.
i'd also like to say that in the hands of a very accurate shooter these would most likely get way better groups than i did out of mine the whole it shot much better than i was capable of shooting it thing ,i only sold mine to help fund my move from MO to OH and i've been kicking myself in the ass ever since.

I own a RIA Tactical and it is a real good firearm for the price. It has upgrades from the RIA GI such as an extended beavertail, sights and lighter weight pull on the trigger. I have two Wilson Combat mags and only problem I had was an extractor that needed adjustment. After that, everything is operating fantastic. The guys at Precision Armscor were excellent to work with and the turnaround on servicing my Tactical was 10 days from date shipped until returned.

I have a Colt Stainless and paid around $500 for it. I have owned it over twenty-five years though.
My point is that as long as you buy a good gun and don't just buy on price, the gun will be worth more as you age. |

no offense bt the only reason the colt is worth more is that it has colt stamped on it, paying alot more for a name only when a less expensive tool can do the same job as good if not better does nt seem all that apealing. do I want a colt 1911? yes i do more for the history of the company though than any kind of accuracy ,you have to remember most colts took an extra chunk of money to get them to really show their true accuracy,i say most..

so basically what most consider typical combat range with a handgun or just a touch further, if your a good shooter the RIA shld do what your wanting it to but as i sd if your not used to them the GI sights will throw you off a bit when you first start shooting it until your used to it or get the sights changed. i'd say from that distance it is entirely possible to shoot groups that good, i just dont have alot of years shooting handguns under my belt yet but from that distance yes i was getting a very small if not touching groups 90% of the time
