Para owners ?s

Anyone here own a Para Ord. PXT "OPS" or LTC 1911 in 45?

They look good and sound comparable to my SA Champ.

Questions:
do they come with FLG or dual-captured spring?
FPS (80series or swartz)??

Advice or opinions on P-O's commander sized 1911's is welcomed.

Thanks

Avoid PARA ORD like the plague, Shoddy QC, their customer service is dropping off and the PXT is fragile. In my book only one word describes them properly JUNK!!!!!!!

I just got a decent buy on a new PX745SB. It's not the OPS, and I don't have it yet and should be here tomorrow, but I got a decent buy on one.

It seems everybody says the same thing about every brand in one form or another, to stay away from them. I did as much research as I could, and when it came down to it I went with who I purchased mine from advised on. He loves Para and SA, and has had zero issues with them. He's also an instructor for firearms classes. I trust his opinion and went with Para.

I've had no issues with my Limited LDA. Looks good & shoots well.

Sorry I can't answer you question about the guide rod, but the commander size was next on my list until the XD compact came along. I just liked the ease of cleaning the XD. (Me being a lazy fawk & all....)

I'll go along with the S/A but my personal experience with the para PXT is that it's Junk and will stand by that to the grave. I had one break, Never broke a Browning designed model, Even my old paperweight Charles Daley never failed to extract or puked into the chamber causing a stoppage that had to be taken care of by a gunsmith. It's your skin if you want to risk it on a substandard design feel free. Oh and dont even get me started on the LDA My CCW LDA made a couple O trips back to Para before it went the way of the DoDo.

You'd probably gasp at the thought of my carrying a Taurus too? 2000+ rounds, zero issues.

I've heard the same stories of Kimber, S/A, etc, and horrid customer service with Kimber several times.

There are good ones and bad ones, every brand has 'em.

I own 4 Paras 2 of which are LDA's, all perform flawlessly, never had an issue one with any of them from day one. I carry a Para Carry LDA as my CCW and I trust my life with it. Junk? Hardly. Now, I'm not partial to Norinco SKS's and think they are junk as well but that's just my personal experience. I'm sure there are a few out there that are decent, I just never found one.

There's a big differance between a $150 SKS and a $850 Para LDA CCW none of my $150 SKS's ever jammed or broke parts that should say something right there. Make all the excuses you want for the pot metal Para's Yes they are all cast not even up to the quality of the Ruger auto's that cost $300 less or the Mostly forged Kimber that I rely on that cost me $650. Its real simple I am a law enforcement officer and have been known to piss off a person or two, I make a hell of a lot less than many folks on this board so every penny counts if all you want is a range gun go ahead and buy Para, as long as you dont put a lot of rounds down range through one it will be fine "Probably" If you depend on it for self defense buy a Glock, Springer of any flavor, Beretta, H&K, SIG, any Quality brand. I basicly put the Para in the same boat as a High Point you might if lucky get one that works if not you just bought a miserable P.O.S. that will fail you when you need it most. If I just twisted your nipple sorry but it is my experience and once bitten twice shy.

Maybe I like my nipples twisted! would that piss you off too?

Perhaps if you weren't near as abusive in your attitude toward people as you were with your firearms, you wouldn't need an anvil for a firearm just so you won't break it. Hope THAT doesn't piss you off... officer.

Nothing entertains the enemies of freedom more than to see us squabbling like teenagers, no matter how funny it can get

Seems that Para fans are few & far between.

Anyway, it may be moot, I'm now looking at a Colt Commander [ c. 1978 ]. I think the frame's aluminum (CLW prefix) but not 100%. Decent looking piece for the age, and the right size. I prefer the 70 series but prices on those have gone a bit insane in recent years.

I like the SA Champ but dislike that stupid dual-recoil rod. There's always the Active-reverse plug option.

Anyway, was reading up on Para's line of Commanders and thought I'd ask from those who might know since I'm having a hard time finding them on rental shelves.

Feel free to continue adding to the discourse.

Peace!
