Nice Kimber there. I forget, how long is that barrel?

I, like others have had issues with the Kimber issued Mags. Since it looks like your first 1911, I recommend the Wilson Combat or Chip Mags (make sure you get the right legth mags).

Last word of advise, give it about 500 rounds (no cleaning) before posting judgement. Lots of those compact 1911s need break-in, so don't be surprized, maybe yours will be flawless.

Okay, one more thing, keep an eye on your plunger tube, they are one of the weak points on the 1911 design an work there way loose over time.

Nice.....I've shot the same version....I like the melt treatment on those.
Good choice.

Thanks guys I appreciate it - so I did get to take her out today and put about 140 rounds through her. I did have a couple feed problems but I will take SE2002's advice and break her in first.

Overall I was happy and got some good groupings and most importantly the wife enjoyed shooting as well but she didn't like the sharpness of the checkered grips which is good because they scratch at me when I have her in the holster. So now I get to pick up a new set of grips

So here is what I shot

20 rds Speer Gold Dot 200 gr +p
20 rds Federal Hydra-Shok 230 gr
100 rds Blazer Brass FMJ 230 gr

I only had problems with the Blazer which I thought was wierd since Kimber recommends FMJ - but maybe it had something to do with the cheap ammo - Either way I plan on picking up some wilson combat mags asap.

Thomas

Also for grips and Mags - the compact would be known as the "officer's" model right? I remember seeing that somewhere but can't seem to find it now.

And one thing I noticed while shooting was that the casings being ejected were a little eratic with a couple even coming straight back at the shooter - is this normal or something to do with the break in period?

Thanks again

Thomas

Reduced frame size is the Officer version, you are correct.
Government is full size frame with 5" barrel
There is also a Commander, it has full size frame with less than 5" barrel.

CDP II Pro was the first 1911 and first thing in .45 acp I ever shot. I almost bought one as my first semi auto, but didn't want to drop a grand on that first one. Nice piece.
