I find consistency of grip is the biggest thing. Start shooting slow and make sure you have a firm, high grip.

I don't know if you reload or not, but if you do than you can roll some home loads and take down that recoil a little, and save some cash. Also get as high up on the back-strap as possible and like others said shoot about a thousand more rounds and it'll slowly fade.

just keep shooting it, lots more.

Work out, eat your wheaties, buy some cowboy boots and a John Deere hat, change your name to Vern, buy a mp3 player and dowload gun videos to watch . . . it'll be just fine

forgot to mention, buy more 1911's one for each hand then the recoil will be offset by the second recoil

I got to shoot a Kimber Pro Carry 1911 a couple of weeks ago (first time shooting a 1911 ever) and found the recoil more comfortable than my XD9 Tac. I think it was the push vs. the snap, but also the added weight from being an all steel pistol.
