Ok...I'm back from work now.
First off, thanks for giving me such a fine selection of guns to choose from.....I can't decide which one I want first. ( seriously, that's a nice collection).
I appreciate your willingness to participate so eagerly, you're the first, as I have posted the "pay for other's ammo" proposition here before, with no takers.
Since you're in Alaska, and I'm in Delaware, how do you want to start?

It's a great 1911 for the money for sure and very accurate. The finish on the blue model is a tad weak but that's it as far as I'm concerned . . .

I'm almost in the same boat as you. I haven't shot that many rds through mine, but so far the only problem I have is that first chamber. If you rack it fast it works fine, but if you do it slow it will jam everytime. Never had it happen while firing at all, just that first one. It did it with HP, but I doubt it would do it with FMJ bullets.. Love the gun for the most part. Still can't get use to the Straight 8 sites, but still working with it..

Here is where I got mine...

I'm suprised you mentioned the word ( if ) "if you win"????
For someone who is so confident in their weapons, I would have expected different.

When I win, I will do the monkey dance and say neener, neener, neener......cause I got a Wilson Combat 1911 for free!

If it's anything like my buddies LB Thunder Ranch, when it get's so hot from shooting, it's too tight and will swell up Bill Clinton on aide recruitment day!

Can't wait to put that light on my XD and those CT grips on my Taurus.

My PT1911SS works flawlessly. I highly recommend it.

Pine you are a good guy. I would feel bad taking your gun or your ammo. But needless to say I shoot these guns quite a bit without issues. I have 15000 rounds to date through the Wilson. Not sure on the Kimber or the Trojan. The only time I have gotten my Wilson to stop working was when I shot 800 rounds through it with all lead reloads with bullseye powder. The slide got real sluggish then started acting up. I did not have any oil with me so I put some hand sanitizer on the slide rails and racked it several times and the gun was running again. Its not super tight like a Les Baer.

Thanks for the kind words. You're alright too, when you can leave the chart at home and just talk straight up.

I know it's making you nervous thinking that you will actually lose when we do this, so I thought I would make it easier on you by saying that when I win, I will give the pistol that I get from you, away in a Karma here on XDTalk, that way, I will also get lots of people rooting for me too, and we will make someone else, extremely happy. I'll get enough satisfaction knowing that once again, a lowly $500 off the shelf, MIM part gun, with no other mods besides new grips and magwell, outshoots a gun that probably cost four times as much, or more. It's already outshot an STI Trojan 9mm, and my buddies Les Baer TR. The STI couldn't even run a full mag with the brand new mags sent with the gun....maybe it was the plastic trigger???
Hell, I'll even take the magwell off, use only factory mags, and put the factory grips back on, even though lots of people said the bushings would break when I took them out the first time.

I also figure that if I hype this up enough, I can get Taurus to back me, since they should have the confidence too, especially given the number of rounds thru your weapon ( every round is just one more closer to eventual failure; all weapons will fail sooner or later).

I only have about a tenth of the amount of rounds you have thru mine, since I don't have the reloader's mecca you have up there in the hills, nor do I get an endless supply of rounds from my employer for practice....I can barely get a day off.

I don't want to pick on you too much more, I know you miss Cartmann and all, but I'm ready whenever you are.......perhaps we can settle this with an honor system contest?

All weapons fail sooner or later but for some like the Taurus its sooner. Plus I maintain my weapons and replaces things when they need replacing. The reality is we are not going to be able to do this and you know it as I live in Alaska and you live down there. Good news for you and I would feel bad about taking anything from you. And no I don't miss Cartman. I see he is back from his suspension from the forum.

Taurus should be ashamed... that **** is scary.... I only need to hear one case of a new gun dropping its own hammer to know I will never own a gun by that manufacture...... that is CRAZINESS. And I'm not over-reacting... that really is VERY dangerous...
Good Lord,

It's amazing how easy, a simple mistake, can cause such a change in opinion.

I have been shooting, working on and even customizing 1911's for the better part of 30 years. I have owned Colt, Springfield Armory, Kimber, Dan Wesson, RIA, Para Ordnance, Norinco, Llama and Wilson Combat and Ed Brown. I have experienced problems with all but two, a high end Wilson Combat and the other was a Springfield Armory loaded. I have had problems with one or more of the others. So if I chose to not ever again buy a gun brand becaus of a majur problem with one, I would quite literally have to give up sub $1000.00 1911. Christmas a year ago I bought my youngest son who turned 21 the October before, and wanted a 1911, his first 1911. Was it one of the brands listed above....no. Was that because I agree with quick48's line of thinking....no. I had gone into my local gunstore and found a Taurus 1911. I asked the owner who knows my abilities with a 1911 if I could detail strip and then reassemble the gun. He allowed me to do so and he did the same with a Springfield Loaded model. We were both impressed with the quality and machine finish of the Taurus. It was basically the same quality gun at almost half the price. It actually had a better trigger than the SA loaded. The slide to barrel fit and slide to frame fit were comperable. As best we could, we compared MIM part quantities and thery were even. I reassembled the gun and promptly bought it. I decided to wring it out before boxing it up with a nice ribbon. 300 rounds of ammo later I had lots of ragged holes but not on single failure. I shot everything from junk to high end, I shot JHP's FN SWC and FMJ. It fed everything. I tore it down again and found no abnoremal wear. I cleaned, re-lubed and boxed it up for Christmas. The only thing I did to change it from original is to replace the plastic grips with a mice set of Cocobolo Checkered Double Diamond I had laying around. My son now has over 3000 round through the gun no problems. Does this surprise me...no I have 3 other Taurus semi-autos with the same kind of reliability. My stainless PT-145 is ticking around 5500 rounds now and all I have done si replace the recoil springs. To coin a phrase: 'One bad apple dont spoil the whole bunch." Plus you can find a lemon anywhere.

I love my three Wilson Combat 1911's and my Springer, but would not hesitate to trust my life to a Taurus 1911. For that matter I do carry the PT-145 as a primary defensive weapon quite often. It has never failed to shoot when I pull the trigger.
