mil spec problem
when i insert a magazine with the slide locked back and release the slide, it feeds the round into the barrel but does not close completely. its like it needs a little assist. it doesnt do it all the time. i know i could send it in to SA but i was just wondering if it could be something simple.

Try a Wolff 18.5lb recoil spring.
My GI did this too, so I sent it back to SA. When it came back it still did it, just not as often.
I replaced the recoil spring with 18.5 lbs Wolff spring and never looked back... Good luck.

+1 on the new STOCK spring... my Kimber does this too after about 5000 rounds. which is when a lot of 'smiths recommend replacing them on 1911's.
maybe a you can get away with a little heavier on if you shoot hotter loads.

Recoil spring issue.. If it's new Mil-spec - it's odd to be doing that so soon, unless it's very dirty from using reloads..

Try slingshotting the slide.
