Kimber feed issues

My Ultra Carry II has around 175 rounds through it and has a hard time feeding any time of ammo. I shot 35 rounds the other day with three failure to load. I noticed the magazine doesn't sit tight in the mag well. There's about a 1/16 of an inch of up and down play and I was wondering if any of this is normal.

Thanks,
Jesse

Adjust your extractor, Willing to bet it's on the tight side. 90% plus feed problems with 1911's are extractor related. Take the slide off the pistol and slide a round under the extractor, if it holds the round tightly against the slide it's too tight. Look on 1911.com for instructions on adjusting the extractor.

There is a 400-500 round break in period. Also, get rid of those stock junk mags and get some Wilson Combat mags. That will fix alot of problems. If you are still having problems after 500 rounds send it back to Kimber and they will take care of it. Also, don't try to adjust your extractor. Especially on a brand new gun. Thats what a warranty is for.

Adjusting the extractor is a five minute job that can save the agrivation involved with shipping a pistol back to the manufacturer. Not only that but it is something that should be in every 1911 owners box of tricks. I have purchased 2 1911's for bargain prices because the owners werent smart enough to diagnose a simple problem.

I understand its a 5 minute process. But what if it doesn't fix the problem? Then you risk your warranty because the owner is not a certified gun smith. They may be able to tell if the gun has been tampered with. Just my opinion. I have no problem messing with my Kimber after the warranty is up. But for now, any mechanical issues that I have go back to Kimber. Just my opinion.

I have a Wilson Combat magazine that does the same thing. I have tried two other magazines with the same results.

I would put more rounds through it. If after 400-500 its still failing, send it back. They will make it right. I have complete trust in my Kimber after I got it back. Its like a new gun. They may even do a little something extra just for your trouble.

I agree with some of the earlier post. Put 400-500 rounds through it first, then send it back if you are still having problems. When I purchased my Pro Carry 2 I was lucky enough to get a salesman that had his own Pro Carry and he told me of some of the problems people have had. He also recommended Wilson mags for it, so I bought two more mags. I may be the lucky one but I have not had one problem at all. Since then I've also bought a couple of Colt 45 8 rd mags and they also work without any issues.

I trust it enough that my Pro Carry is my primary carry gun and have regulated my XD40 for back up.

Thanks for all the replies. What could make the magazines sit loose though? It doesn't seem to be an issue just an annoyance.
