They are two totally different designs and I'd be impressed if a company would mass produce a trigger conversion for a 22/45 that mimics a 1911's trigger at a cost effective price.

The slide on the Kimber conversion is Aluminum while the majority of 1911 frames are some form of steel. Aluminum is going to wear much faster than steel so I wouldn't worry about the conversion kit "wearing" out your pistol. Plus parts for the 1911 are so plentiful that replaces springs and such wouldn't be difficult. What parts are you concerned with that would wear unevenly?
It would depend on the kit, any part that would interact with the kit will cause wear. It's not the wearing out, I'd think about. It's the wearing differently.

Wearing differently is not going to be an issue. The life span of a properly maintained 1911 is something like 150,000 rounds. I am sure there is someone out there that will dispute that more or less it doesn't matter.

The barrel/slide is going to get much more significant wear than the frame/fire control parts).

If you took 2 identical 1911 frames and fired 1000 rounds of 230gr WWB through one and 1000 rounds of 22lr, the one with the 22lr kit is going to show next to no wear vs the 45acp.

The frame section of both guns will be nearly identical. However the hammer will suffer much more significant wear on the 45acp than the 22lr.

Shooting a 1911 with a 22lr conversion kit is not going to cause significant wear to the pistol. Uneven or otherwise.

Many big name USPSA and IDPA competitors say to train with the .22 coversion kit. If it works for them...

I have put close to 2000 rounds through my conversion kit and I love it. I second that cheap ammo does not work well! I had a 500 round brink that I had to suffer through constant stovepipes and misfires. I found that I shoot CCI Blazer .22LR very well using the kit. It is a great training tool for the 1911 in my opinion. I have 10X's the practice on that than I do using the regular .45....And then there's the riduculous savings on ammo. I just picked up 3500 rounds of the .22 for $110... try getting 500 rounds of .45 and the cost is a joke!
