Carried my 1911 yesterday. I was surprised.
It is amazing what a good holster will do for the carry experience. Normally I do not carry bigger, heavy guns. I like to stick with my Glock 27 sub-compact. Especially in this hot weather when I am walking around in thin shorts and a tshirt.
Yesterday, I was feeling ornery. I had one of those Testosterone flashes that makes you want to carry big guns and drive big horsepower muscle cars. LOL Anyhow, I dusted off my Springy TRP Operator, and popped it into my new DeSantis Scabbard Thumb break holster. It was outside the waistband, so I threw on a light Dickie's work shirt, and left it open in the fron with my t-shirt underneath. A nice, layered shirt look. I was AMAZED at how unobtrusive the 1911 was, for such a heavy a$$ gun. I sort of like the cocked and locked big bore action!!!!! Might have to carry the 1911 a little more on a daily basis.

A good holster and belt make all the difference for carrying just about anything bigger than a pocket gun.
Are you still trying to sell that TRP? |

I am not pushing it. Not trying too hard. But, I would consider offers. The more I carry it and shoot it, the more I like it.

I have carried a Govt. 1911 for quite a while, and a good holster and belt makes all the difference.

For the first four years I had my CHL here in Texas I carried a 1911. I found it very easy to conceal the pistol despite its size and used a Milt Sparks Summer Special IWB holster. The problem I had was at 40 ounces dry it is a heavy gun. Throw in the weight of the ammo and at least one spare magazine (I usually carried two since they are limited in capacity to 7 or 8 and the combination got heavy especially if you carried it all day long.
I will still occasionally carry my 1911 but it has pretty much been replaced by either my Sig P228 or Glock 17 for carry duty. The Glock is lighter fully loaded with 17 rounds than the 1911 is empty. |

You can't go wrong with a good holster and any carry gun, the 1911 is an animal compared to other carry guns but the holster makes all the difference.
