Compensator Bushing
Ok so I was looking around for a stainless bushing and recoil spring plug, I'm just pricing a few things because I am considering dressing up my newly aquired Milspec 1911 My new 1911
Just by simpley putting the above mentioned stainless parts on plus stainless grip safety and hammer. I came across a compensator bushing 1911 Full Size Bushing Compensator, Blue New it's 19.99 I figure a fair price to reduce recoil, I am new to the 1911 world and am sure there are plenty of gimicks given all the clones and variants, I'm not looking to spend all that money on a new threaded barrel and compensator ect... just trying to KISS (keep it simple stupid) is this just something that is tacticool or practical for the price? I'm not even completly worried about the recoil as it is but a reduction is always nice and I didn't want to just spend money on a piece of metal that serves no purpose.

For $19.99, why not give it a try.
Just keep in mind that this bushing probably won't need to be fitted, so your accuracy might suffer. All my springfields have very well fit bushings from the factory. Also, CDNN charges $9.99 flat rate shipping, so stock up on some mags to make your order worth while. Try it and let us know if it works! |

My brother has one on his 1911. He says that on medium loads such as 230gr with 4.2 bullseye, there isn't much noticeable difference, however if he loads hot such as Power Pistol powder, he says there is a difference.

IMHO it's not worth the money or trouble. There is not enough surface area in the baffles for the comp to work. No comp is very effective on a 45, not nearly enough pressure. The best recoil reducer is free, it's proper grip and stance.

Too actually have much of an effect you need to have a flat surface for the gas to hit.
I had an extended compensated barrel for a Glock 23. All it did was create a huge upward muzzle flash. No change in the recoil at all. Now the Volquartsen Compensator on my Ruger MKII pistols make a huge difference. They add weight and are properly designed.
