I went up to see how much it would cost to order one, and lo and behold there it is in the display case. I dry fired it a couple of times, and that sold it.

I just got back from shooting it, and I love this gun. Your probability might be too low.

Yeah, that's what I figured....(I even wrote that in my post). I was just wondering about the size and weight comparison between the EMP and the .45 Micro. But no matter what, I'd guess that the EMP would probably be more reliable out of the box since it was designed from the ground up to be what it is, while, as you say, the "Micro" is a "chopped down" 1911 and I have always heard that since the thing was designed to fire the .45acp with a 5" barrel and appropriate size and weight slide, that anything smaller is less likely to be as reliable.

Of course technology has come a long way and I'd guess that with the help of computers, it's probably a safe bet that the newer 3 and 4 inch 1911s comply to the physics required to be far better than the older variations on Browning's original design.

Whatever...that EMP sure does look like a sweet carry piece.

I WANT ONE!!!!! LOL

Peace,
D.

foo.c,

Congrats on the EMP! Sweet looking pistol. Just don't get your wife mad at you! I saw where SA is offering the EMP in .40 SW new this year. It would be interesting to see that in .45 GAP. I don't have anything in that caliber, but it would be neat to see it in the GAP caliber. Let us know how it performs on the range - group size, reliability, etc.

I've had my EMP now for almost a year, couple of thousand rounds through it. Its been my favorite CCW piece for all the reasons mentioned. It's been superbly reliable - going through several high round count classes without any hiccups. Its accuracy is superb - I don't benchrest shoot much, offhand at 10yds. very capable of 1" groups.

Very nice. My next gun purchase will probably be an SA 1911 Loaded and depending on how well I like it I could see replacing my XD-40SC with an EMP one day.

First off, welcome to XDTalk...see you are a pretty new member. Enjoy the community!!!

Secondly.....I have had an SA 1911 "Loaded" for about 3 years now (IIRC). the 9151. It has been absolutely amazing. Not one hiccup out of thousands of rounds. It is not supposed to be as accurate as it is, nor is the trigger supposed to be as crisp and light as it is (4 pounds out of the box). But it is all that and more. I cannot imagine what the SA "Pro" must be like at more than twice the price (close to triple). The "Loaded" is hand fitted in Illinois....that's easy to see since you can see the last few digits of the serial number scratched into the slide, disconnect/hammer rail (or whatever the proper term is), etc....Bottom line, I can pretty much guarantee you'll love the "loaded"...I admit though that I had an advantage. When I bought it there were three of them in the shop, so I got to examine each for fit and finish, got to dry fire each and got to choose what I considered the "pick of the litter". (In truth they were all great, but I have read of some that were not as nicely fitted....I'd have to guess they were bought sight unseen).

I could have gotten the gun for about $100 less on line, but preferred to handle the gun I was gonna buy (It actually didn't really cost more 'cause they threw in some range time, some ammo..a bushing wrench....stuff that didn't cost them much ...but had value to me). They also switched sights for me at no charge when i bought the adjustable rear sight on the SA 'Coupon".

The EMP.....I'm with you on that. I hope I can find one. Looks like a "must have" for a carry piece. The full size 1911 is way too big and heavy for my personal preference as a carry weapon. The Kel-Tec P32 I carry every day is great, but this EMP is the first gun I've seen that make me wanna change my ways!!!

Beautiful!!!

Peace,
D.
