Para Custom finally came in! (dial-up beware)
i've posted about it before, but its finally here! i ordered two but only one has shown up, i have no idea if Para is even sending the second one, because i just sent them an email and told them to add one to my order form...
![]() ![]() ![]() ...my loss if it doesn't i'm happy with it, my dad's been shooting all his life but hasn't played around much with semi-autos, he's a big hunter. bolt actions, revolvers and black powder are more his thing, but he shot it and it grouped great (i am, unfortunately, a horrible shot) - 8/10 within 1.5" or so i would guess. ETA: flawless 30 rounds. not much but anything flawless is a good start

i hope my other one is coming too, they were only 750 bucks give or take, and going by a similar one on the para site its nearing more like 900-1000 dollar range for one like it - and that's without the match barrel and neat little picashures on it.

how does the grip compare to a normal 1911? I'm assuming it's thicker but how much? I guess a better question may be how does it compare to an XD grip or 21SF? I've been thinking about picking one up for a range/bedside gun but there's nowhere around here to check them out in person.

XD Grip - much thinner. not sure about XD45 ACP, but my service/tac XD9s have a much thinnder grip.
the side panels on it really add a lot of the size, and its not very comfortable for me, but i have smaller hands anyway. i've never really fired a 1911 standard capacity, but i've held one before, and the size is noticeable, however - i haven't held a regular cap one enough to say just how much it would bother me moving from it to the HiCap. DEFINATELY hold it first. my action was also INCREDIBLY tight when i got it. i took it apart/reassembled it a few times when i got it and it felt like i did something wrong, the slide just would NOT retract unless i braced it against something. i fired it a few times and it helped some, cleaning the old gook out of it helped too, i think.
