Does it compare?

Here's a reason, or better yet a question, does it compare with the Nighthawk Custom GRP Recon? If not, why spend the money?

Chapie+

Because the TRP is $1000 less than the Nighthawk GRP.

I have 1911s from Nighthawk, Wilson, Rock River Arms, Ed Brown, Les Baer, and some other custom and semi customs.

The TRP is about as close as production 1911s get to them.

I can't talk you out of one, the one I have told me I was taking him home. Best 1911 for the money on the market. When you start going in the $2000 range or higher, your not getting that much more vs. what the TRP already has. And it has everything you want vs. the lower end models of 1911 ( and that is any 1911 maker ).

My only "gripe"- holsters are a tad harder to find for the railed model.

I wouldn't quite say that. The TRP is one of the best production 1911s, but the semi custom 1911s are really in a league of their own.

Don't get me wrong, I love my TRP, but there is a difference. Even Springfield's semi custom 1911s are a big step up.

I have the Springfield TGO that retails for $3200, which is roughly twice the TRP's retail. Believe me, you get what you pay for when it comes to 1911 pistols.

Out of all of them, I like my Wilson Super Grade, Springfield TGO, and RRA Limited Match the best.

However, I'm getting another Ed Brown, the Classic Custom. I should have it in a week or so, as I ordered it a while back. That should rank up there with my favorites.
