1911's??
I'm very new to 1911"s, my questions are general and I'm sure everyone has a different opinion so I'm just getting a concensus on this. What do you guys think is the BEST 1911 out there and why do you think it is the best?

I really love my Para Ordnance 1911's with the LDA (Light Double Action) trigger. 1911 traditionalists will tell you it is not a real 1911 'cause it is double action, but the heck with them...a trigger as sweet as the LDA just wants to be stroked. There are a gagillion different makes/models to temp you. I own a Para, a Colt, a Springfield, and a S&W 1911...my Para is my favorite!

What's your budget and what do you wish to accomplish or do with the pistol.
It's a very broad question. Almost impossible to answer in it's current form. Kind of like asking "What's the best motor vehicle out there?"

Good point! Will be used for range shooting and home defense. No budget.

Wilson Combat CQB for range, competition (single stack), and home defense.
No question about that in my mind. Although I'm sure some of the other high-end custom houses are comparable. With a couple of bells and whistles, like SpeedChute, will run you a bit over two bills.

Wow. I have Para's top of the line single stack and I don't think it comes anywhere near my Wilsons. Maybe its the caliber you like. Wilsons can be had in 40 as well. |
