Wow.

I have Para's top of the line single stack and I don't think it comes anywhere near my Wilsons.

Maybe its the caliber you like. Wilsons can be had in 40 as well.
no i dont think that para is better than wilson. maybe for the money. i cant justify paying for a wilson really. but ive shot a para in .40 alot and it was just butter...a little modded out it was my personal favorite 1911. maybe i missed the point of the question i dont know.

i didnt know wilson made a 1911 in .40...never held one either so i cant personally say that is the best.

I've heard some really bad things about Les Bear, but you know how that goes....
Otherwise, I would say STI, but Wilson, Ed Brown, Nighthawk, etc... are probably just about the same.

Yeah, I have a big collection of 1911s.

That's about a fifth of them.

Here are some from the brands you named. STI makes 1911s in all price ranges, but the high end models are comparable to the others you mentioned.

Wilson Classic Super Grade, Les Baer Concept V, Les Baer SRP, STI Trojan, STI Legacy, RRA Limited Match, Ed Brown Kobra Carry, STI spartan, Wilson CQB, Nighthawk Predator II.

The STI Legacy is a high end model. The Trojan is mid range and the Spartan is an entry level 1911.

so Bac...since you've got 'em all, make the call!

What's the top three IYHO? for OP's question - home defense and range work.

My favorites are the Springfield TGO1, Wilson Super Grade, and RRA Limited Match. All three are primarily target 1911s.

Its hard to go wrong with a Baer SRP for self defense. Just a great gun.
