The reason why I got a 9mm 1911 is because it is RARER than a .45!

And have you ever even shoot a 9mm 1911? It's super soft shooting, and very comfortable!

I'm sold on the 1911 platform, and yes, a 1911 is "supposed" to be in .45, but why not get it in 9mm for target shooting?

I wouldn't carry it (9 rounds vs. 8 rds of .45), but for shooting fun, there's nothing like it!

1949 Colt 9mm Commander

Looks like there was a Colt Commander 1911 designed specifically for 9mm in the late 40's. Development and evolution of the Colt Commander

My uncle has an early Commadner in 38 Super. That is one VERY sweet shooter, but they're pretty rare and have you priced 38 Super ammo lately?

I still think that if you like the 1911 and want a 9mm that is as 1911-ish as you can get and gives very little trouble, the Hi-Power is your gun!

Well actually, the SA EMP is a compelely redesigned 1911 platform specifically for the 9mm! I understand what u mean about reliability issues in standard 1911's with 9mm, but this gun is redesigned to fix those realiability issues! if they werent so dang expensive i would have one tomorrow!

I have a pair of 'em. Springfield EMP. That thing is simply a machine. I'm very impressed with the function and quality of Springfield. I have 2 other 1911's. Kimber Stainless Target II in 9mm and a Model 70 Colt Goldcup in .45. All of them are very enjoyable to shoot. I would not take for any of the 3 I currently have. All of them are super accurate. Even the small EMP.

1911s and 45s go together like Peanut Butter and Jelly.

I own a Colt MKIV series 80 1911 in 9mm.
I bought it back in about 1985. I really enjoy the way the 9mm shoots in the 1911 platform.
I would love to own an EMP for carry purposes.
