And another homeless 1911 follows me home....

Product: Model SW1911 Pistol

Was at the range this weekend. Noticed a S&W 1911 box behind the counter. When I was checking out I asked about the box.

Was told that it was ordered for a customer and came in scratched. So it was returned to the distributor and another gun ordered. The distributor sent the pistol to S&W and it was refinished. Then the gun was sent back to the range.

Well the range normally doesn't stock guns for sale. And it was mentioned that they did not like having that much money tied up. So I asked how much?

Was told $775.

Sold.

There is also a $100 rebate on this model. So I made out pretty good.

Now the sad thing is I will pick it up when I pick up a Colt being shipped to the range. And that will be my last trip to that range. I like the place and the people are nice. However you have to buy your ammo and targets there. The prices on the ammo are not unreasonable. But you don't get to keep the brass. And I can do better on the ammo prices. 45 ACP is $20 a box. I can do better than that.

And I was accepted to another indoor range. I go tomorrow morning to get my card and take a tour. I bring my own ammo, can get cheap targets there or bring my own and I get to keep my brass. And it's much closer to home.

Well, congrats on the gun, and no reason to be sad about leaving a place like that.

I've never stepped foot on an indoor range, very few public ranges at all as a matter of fact, but those kinda practices doesn't make it sound like a place I'd like to frequent

Here in Portland there are not a lot of choices. And when you work 5 out of 6 Saturdays the choices are even fewer.

There are two indoor public ranges in the area. All the rest are private. And with gas prices being what they are the ability to drive out into the snow covered woods is not very high.

I am going to join an outdoor range so I can fire my rifles. But the range is 30 miles one way. I get 12 mpg in my truck. So I will burn 5 gallons of gas round trip. That makes each trip a bit spendy.

Sounds like me every time I go to my range. They have some S&W factory demo's for really really cheap...plus the $100 rebate. Im so very tempted. But Im moving soon, and Im trying to not spend too much money. If I was getting more back from taxes, it would be mine!
