kimber pro carry question? commander or officer?
well im new to 1911s and most aftermarket parts companies refer to 1911s as govt. commander, officer. i dont know what the commander and officers are, i know they have a shorter barrel but which one is the same if any as the procarry ? the pro-carry is a 4" barrel with a full size grip.
mainly im am interested in swapping barrels at some point |

Governments have a 5" barrel, Commanders have 4.25" barrels. Officers have a shorter grip.
Anything with a 4" (Champion) sized barrel or shorter is pretty much bastard sized that (may) be difficult to get parts/holsters/etc for.

Officer's model is shorter barrel and grip (I should know the barrel length as I carried one for years, think it's 3.5). Commander is 4" barrel w/standard grip.
You shouldn't have any issues getting Commander length parts or holsters.

yea it seems the colt commander is a 4.25" barrel so i dont get why the other 1911 makers decided to go with the 4" barrel

Most of the other manufacturers use a bushingless system so they dont need the extra 1/4". I really like the ones with the Officers grip frame and the commander length slide. The best of both worlds really concealable with a longer sighting radius.

I have a Champion. Which is almost identical to the KPC. There are many things out there for that size. As far as changing the barrel you SHOULD be ok with a 4" bushingless barrel.
