what are some cheap/inexpensive 1911 out there
hey guys, first of all, this is my first post so be kind.
in few weeks i should save enough money for my g22+9mm barrel+357sig barrel package. and i already itching for the next gun. an inexpensive 1911 will be a good choice i think. i'm not looking for kimber or colt level of 1911, i'm not big on fancy guns. i want one that shoot and still leave me some money to buy ammo to practice with it. i hear some good things about rock island, and norinco. what are their price range, quality and reliability? please feel free to post other 1911 as well. picture will always welcome. ps: 3 months since i got my first gun. now i have 3 firearms, i got the fever bad. |

I'd recommend you look at Rock Island Armory 1911s.
Oh, and welcome to the forum.

I've shot a few Rock Island 1911's and I can say they are a pretty decent 1911. With that said, look at a SA Mil-Spec....

What do you call cheap? You can get a Kimber Custom II for around $650 which is cheap compared to a LB, WC, or Colt. Or you can get a RIA which is around $400 which is cheap compared to everything else.

sorry didn't be more specific, my idea of inexpensive will be around $400. for once stepping into $500 mark, i'll be more willing to get another glock or LE trade in sig or hk.

IMHO 1911s are the kind of gun you go cheap on. I prefer a nice quality 1911 vs a cheap basic one. But look at the Rock Island Armory 1911 or a Springfield GI.

I've only heard good things about RIA, a little bump up from that is a Charles Daly 1911 EFS, I'm considering one of those for my first 1911.

My first gun was a Norinco 1911 when I turned 21. That was a bit ago. It was a good reliable gun, but even then it begged for modification. The sights were small but very accurate. I wish I still had it. Would I buy another one probably not. There are to many production guns already with some bells and whistles for a little bit more.
