It only cost 10% of it's weight in gold.

The STI Eagle starts at about $1600 and anything less than that in a 1911 isn't going to be that good of quality. You can get a CZ or Tanfoglio that will perform well at a lower price but they are not 1911's. Para has spotty QC and isn't worth the price as the quality isn't there IMO.

Maybe in .40 s&w the story is different, but I disagree with the blanket statements of "if it costs less than X amount of dollars, it's not going to be good quality, or it's going to suck, or it's junk, or it's garbage."

Are some high dollar guns better than lower dollar guns? Sure, but to make a blanket statement about a dollar amount a gun must cost for it to be "of good quality" is silly.

I had a very specific statement about high cap .40 1911 style pistols, which not a blanket statement at all. I was referring to hi cap 1911's, not just 1911's in general.

How much do you know about hi cap 1911 style .40 caliber pistols?

There are 3 frame styles that I would consider "quality" frames Caspain, STI/SVI, and Springfield. Caspian are all custom made which means it is much more than 2K to touch one. Les Baer is going to be making a production style gun based on the frame that is 3K. Springfield's Custom .40 1911 style guns are more than 2K. SVI are more than 2K. STI's least expensive hi cap .40 is $1600. The rest of the custom made STI/SVI guns are generally more than 2k.

If you know of a quality 1911 hicap .40 less than $1600 why don't you share with us? I've owned, shot, or worked on every model currently available, and that is why I do not consider Para, BulM5 style .40's as "quality" hi cap .40's.

If you are talking about single stack .40's, they are a bit tricky to get to run right, so the list of good ones isn't very long either.
