Forget About IT

I ditched the idea of a Sig .45 seems they aren't what they ought to be for the price. I never owned a 1911 but I am now leaning towards a Springfield between $800.00 and $1000.00 what do you all suggest? thanks for your help

Can't go wrong with SA within that price range...but for that same amount of money, I'd also look very hard at a Dan Wesson Classic Commander Bobtail or the Pointman Seven. The former being the shorter-barreled model and the latter being the full gov't sized model. For that same price range, you're getting a lot of superior parts and a stellar (and superior, IMO) weapon for the same money. Dan Wesson's are being distributed by CZ:

Dan Wesson

Another option within that price range is a Kimber. They make a lot of models and in my own personal experience with them...they are a tightly built, accurate and reliable weapon (i know you can read ad nauseum about possible issues with them). Mine has over 2,000 rounds in it right now with about a dozen different ammunitions without one single malfunction of any kind, including during break-in. It's ridiculously accurate to boot...I guess I got one built on the right day

That being said...I'd still go for the Dan Wesson!

I agree...the Dan Wessons are in your price range and everything I have heard, read, seen, says the DW's are better for the money.

I love the dan wesson pistols...

Im leaning towards the S&Ws right now. My range has a few that are like demo pistols. But I was told that the one that I like was under 500 rounds... So its broken in. Figure any issues with it are already taken care of. Best thing is, S&W has $100 rebate. So the pistol is $650, already discounted beacuse of being a demo, and then I get another $100 back... Thats getting into Taraus range...which is what I was going to go with.

Good luck making your choice! Im quickly learning that since picking up guns and shooting as my hobby, I need a second job to fund it

if there are issues, what is the warranty on the DW and what are the chance they will be around to replace/repair it in the future? Springer has a lifetime warranty.

not being a smarta$$, just asking honest questions.

SA does have the DW's beat hands down on warranty. DW's warranty is the same as CZ's...5 years. As to who will still be in business down the road...any of 'em could go tits-up in a blink...just my opinion.
