Changing magazine capacity, can you do it?

I have 2 factory 7 round mags and I was wondering if you can buy replacement springs and followers to make them 8 round mags?

Chip McCormick and Wilson both have followers and springs that should work for you.

I see them on Midway, but will the convert my 7 round mags to 8 rounds or will they remain 7 rounders?

I don't care for the steel followers in the steel magazines. Now that I have a pair of Wilson Combat 47Ds and I see how smooth they are, I see how raunchy my factory mags are.

measure the factory and the Wilson for length. If the same or real close, you should be good.

The conversion costs would be about the same as new Chip McCormic powermags through Midway. You can get 8 and 10 round mags for less than $20. Get a couple of these and save the 7 rounders for range duty.

Well, McCormick 8-round Power Mags go for 16.99 plus shipping, the follower and springs are 8.47...I can get two followers and 2 springs for the same as one magazine. I'm not worried about the number of magazines, I just don't want the metal followers in my 7 rounders to bind up in the steel mags.

Metal followers have been used in 1911's since 1911 I think you are pretty safe. All of my mags but 3 metalforms have steel followers and have thousands of rounds through them.

That's reassuring, but compared to the Wilson Combat 47Ds, the metal followers feel like junk. Those Wilson mags are just soooo smooth.
