Norinco 1911A1

So I bought one the other day, local deal. $250 unfired.....well it was unfired =]

I was a little scared when purchasing it because it does say made in China on it. But I purchased it anyway, shoots like a dream, perfect sights, little recoil, and great accuracy. I've shot colts and springfields and to me this is a better shooter, the only 1911 I've ever shot that I thought shot a little better was one Kimber. Figured I would share my experience and my toy with everyone.

BTW so that no one yells at me for not having a picture I snapped this one.

Great deal! They are definitely worth more than that. The only problem I've seen with them is failure to feed Barnes bullets. Still working on that one...

I have 3 of them, very good price (steal) and they are good shooters with wolf ammo

Nice, I'd love to get ahold of a GI spec older 1911...

Good deal, good gun.

Lot of shooters use the frames
for new build-ups.

As of now the only thing I want to replace is the stock plastic grips....I absolutely hate them lol.

I did have one issue with it, I shot 100 rounds through it and I had two rounds that entered the barrel but stopped with about a 1/4in of the shell hanging out of the barrel, causing the slide to close properly. Is this considered a stove pipe? Also any ideas on what causes this.

A stove-pipe is an empty case that gets trapped between the barrel hood and the slide. You had an out of battery stopage. Many things could have caused the problem. Try another mag before you go hacking on the gun. Check the extractor tension too,

yeah try some quality mags from wilson, kimber, or something like that. might also consider a wolf recoil spring. those two things should fix the hiccup. I bought kimber pro mags for My rock island armory and never had another problem with fte ftf or not chambering the round completely. good mags make a real big difference.

I also have the KimPro Tac Mag 8-rounder and it hasn't given me problems yet. I think I'm going to pickup a Wilson Combat this afternoon though to compare which has the better angle for JHP.

I also just installed a Wolff 18.5 recoil spring. But opted out from installing the firing pin spring that came with it. I don't want to mess around with my Schwartz safety components.

These, plus the work I did on polishing the feed ramp will be tested today. I was supposed to shoot on Saturday as a birthday gift to myself, but if I run into issues, it'll ruin that day for me.
