Springer TRP price check

A shop near me has a slightly used TRP with an invoice from the custom shop with $750 worth of work done to it. They are asking $999 for it. I'm thinking if I offer $900, I can get it. They say it retailed over $1750. I've bought lots of guns there and trust what they say.

I really want to purchase an AR next, but should I buy this first since it seems like a good deal? The gun is super tight and very clean. It has the box and all the paperwork and normal included stuff.

Sounds suspiciously low to me. My local dealer has three used for around $1299 each. New ones are going $1599. Ones like mine with all of the custom work are fetching between $1700 and $2000. Although, I don't nearly have that much in mine, as I benefitted from someone else's financial troubles.

Sounds like a good deal, bud. Look at it closely.

That's a great price for a TRP!

If you're not yet a 1911 owner like I wasn't when I bought my used Kimber Gold Match II, read about reliability secrets at The Sight's M1911 .45 ACP Page. You'll get information on how much work a gun might need to be reliable. Read also about generic visual checks you need to do when buying used handguns.

Then ask the shop if you can field strip it. If it shows no signs of abnormal wear, buy it! If they have a range, that 's always a plus.

Thumbs up Trp

I had one in similar condition that I sold recently for $915 had about 1500 rounds through it. Could put several rounds through one hole.
Why did I sell, didn't shoot it much and have too many pistols.
However, one of the best 45acp pistols I've owned.
Here's what mine looked like:

Buy it - it is truely one of the best 1911 pistols going!

I bought a new one off gunbroker last year for 1,200.. haven't checked lately..

sounds like a good deal if all the work was done by the custom shop as you say (w/ the receipts)

I agree the price sounds really really low, but if you find anything wrong you can send it back to Springfield for repair. I'd be afraid to question them too much about why it was so cheap, out of fear of them jacking up the price.

Heck, you could probably turn around and sell if for a profit if you don't like it.

Whittakers, which is a reputable dealer, lists them new for about 1313. and has a used one for 929. Buds last in stock price was 1266. I think anyone selling above the 1300's and especially in the 1599 and up price range is over priced. I have seen several used in the 900's different places, I think it's a good price for a used one and when they were purchased they were probably in the 1100 range, it hasn't been that long since they were.

Plenty of trp's in the 1300's gunbroker
