I've shot Badshot's gun. I have a few 1911's, most are customs. That being said, I would have no issues owning one. Well put together and shoot great.

A: It is probably not the easiest on finish. I have been using the CQC holster with a glock 17 and 19 in pretty ugly environs. There is a lot of surface contact with the gun so I could be easier on finish. It is fast and secure though.

I was just talking to a guy at the range about our PT1911s. We agreed that they are some of the very best 1911s available. The only 1911 that was close was his TRP Operator, for 3+ times the money.

Well, did you pick one up MKB? I had my dealer put one in the back for me. I will probably go with a comp-tac IWB holster though. I may pick up a cqb for the range and IDPA matches though.

I have a PT1911, a SA that has been worked on by Cylinder and Slide, and a Kimber Custom Classic. The Taurus is the best of the three. I shoot it just as well as the others, it's just as reliable, and feels just as good. The finish wears very quickly, but I do alot of drawing from concealment (from a Kydex IWB holster), so that could have something to do with it.
This morning after church I went out back and I'm now at 1600 rounds through the gun. No malfunctions, no problems.

I think about 60% of the people talking bad about the PT1911 are lying, and the other 40%, well, nothing is perfect.

redbrd,

I havent gotten one yet, I'm undecided as of yet between a Taurus or getting a Charles Daly 1911 EFS. While I agree that there are definitely some taurus haters out there and that all gun manufacturers get things wrong sometimes the one common denominator I've heard is Taurus's customer service is atrocious and takes forever and thats not something I'm prepared to deal with. Because of this doubt I went looking around again and the CD I mentioned got great reviews and their customer service is supposed to be outstanding (plus they pay for cost of shipping both ways if you need your CD worked on).

Shoot it, maintain it, repeat...

I love it so far. 200 rounds without any malfunctions.
The ambi safety is still tight and no problems or loosening.
Very accurate and spot on out of the box.

I'll reserve final judgment until ~1000 rounds, but I think I have a keeper.

Cheers,

My brother just purchased the blued version and loves it. He said it was dead on accurate right from the box and hasn't given him any problems as far as feeding and FTE. He did, however, have to replace the safety because it kept falling apart after a 150 rds. He put a wilson safety on it with some hogue wrap around grips and he says its perfect now (apparently lots of people have problems with the safety, but for the price, you can't really complain).

I'd love to get my hands on a stainless version if I had the cash...they're very reasonably priced on Buds for $504 I think (for the blued one).
