I have a Kimber Stainless Compact I.It has a 4" barrel with the Officers grip.A fellow offered me $1000 for it awhile back cause he said that he had never seen one be4,but I didnt take it.Its more a sentimental thing for me.Seris 1's seems like a little more harder to find,I guess just cause thier older.

The Series 1's collect a premium because they lack the Schwartz style firing pin safety. Yours is definately a keeper. The commander slide and Officers grip frame not only look right together but make for a tremendous carry piece.

Sorry for the confusion.
Its all good. Books are really just a guide so I didnt know if you had some insider information thats why I asked.

I'm going to school to be a gunsmith and the section I'm studying is IDing and Evaluating Firearms.

Nope, no insider info here. I really need to get me one of those books.

I often find myself relying on memory and/or sites like Gunbroker. Both methods are far from being flawless.

When using Gunbroker, you're likely to find the same firearm, at multiple locations, for prices that could easily be $200+ different than the next.

Ask him if it has an internal or external extractor. I forget when they switched them around and then back again.

I paid $620 for my stainless series I. The blued ones were running $580-600. Paid $1050 for the heritage - sold it a year later unfired for $1200 and bought a series II TLE (without the rail) for $710.
I prefer the series I models. My TLE functions great...but I don't care for trigger safety.
