Bobtailed Sig Carry 1911

This is one of 2 sig 1911's I got, carry and full size, that were shot show guns (not this years) and new in box with papers and full lifetime factory warranty for a good price. The serial numbers are in the 5,000's, actually 10 numbers apart, and were from when EGW made the bushing and some internals, ed brown, Greider, wilson, real novak night sights etc. among other name parts were used. They have since changed parts manufacturers, according to george at egw and I can't speak for the new ones but the ones made during this time are VERY sweet. Up until now the tightest and best fit/finish production gun I have seen is Dan wesson but these particular time frame sigs are very tight hand fitted. I owned a cbob 10mm and have a .45 cbob laid away right now, but these are along the lines of baer tight.

When they first came out they used caspian frames and some were out of spec. They took care of that and then EGW supplied them with some bad extractors so they had another batch of problems. The ones during this time though are well worth fixing the extractor if need be. From what I understand they had to change parts suppliers as it was costing too much and I can see that as the parts are top of the line and no mim. The frame/slide was also hand fitted, don't know if they still do that.

OK, I posted my opinion on the sig 1911's, now here is the one I bobtailed and had bead blasted locally and a thread of it being done. I have a Fusion bobtail being built, a cbob .45 laid away and have owned a couple of other bobtails. Not to mention my "bobtailed" officers. I love 'em.:

Oh, a local guy bead blasted the frame and msh, it was nitron finishe dbefore.

That, my friend, is spectacular!

1. It's a Sig.
2. It's Cdr length.
3. It's a bob.
4. Gives us DW CBOB owners something to be jealous about.
5. It's just friggin' awesome. I love it!

Thanks guys.

lemat, don't be jealous. I consider sig and dan wesson to both have the best fit/finish of any production 1911's out there. This range of sig's just happens to be the sweet spot in my opinion. Many have said they don't like the slide on the sigs. as it's patterened after their other guns, and I was on the fence at first but I really do like it. With so many 1911's out there, I think there is room for some difference (in cases like this, not the design).

Tip. If you see one in this range that maybe has the bad extractor and someone wants to unload, get it and replace the extractor with a new "beefier" egw one. You won't regret it.

I think the full size one will wind up looking just like this one for a "matched" set.
