1911 Fever!
So I am BS'ing with a guy at the range today after he asked me about my XD9 Tac and the subject turns to his 1911. He hands me his Kimber Pro CDP II and a magazine, one magazine later I do not want to hand it back! I have been eyeballing 1911's for a while now and now I really want one.

I personally would not own a Kimber. SA is the way to go.

I love Kimber 1911's. I am buying a Custom Gold Match off my brother-in-law. I'll post picks when I get it, it's purty and shoots like a dream. I really want to get involved with IPSC/IDPA and it will do nicely I figure

Same story here. I'm absolutely in love with my XD45 Compact...but I picked up a Kimber Pro CDP II, just like you mention and WOW.
The trigger and accuracy on it is unreal. Not a single hiccup in 600+ rounds so far. I've changed out the mainspring housing on it to stainless steel and just got the Crimson Trace carbon fiber grips for it (even though the reddish rosewood stock grips look beautiful). It's a very TIGHTLY fit gun. My XD45 is the one I'd grab if something goes bump in the night because it has the TLR light on its rail (as well as a Lasermax laser guide rod)....but as far as trying to accurately hit targets at the range....it really does perform a bit better than my XD45c, especially at distances over say 30 feet. It makes the XD45's trigger seem spongy. It's the one I've been fondling the most lately. Another thing is that because of its slimness, its much easier and more comfortable to carry concealed than the XD which is a bit thicker in design.

I own both Kimber and SA 1911's and when it comes to quality you can feel the Kimber is head and shoulders above the Springer, Of course mine are entry to mid level Springers but then my Kimber fits that model too. The Attention to detail on a Kimber is much better, finish no comparison the Kimber just feels finished while the Springers feel rougher around the edges. The only place I can find where the Springer is superior is the lack of the fps. That said my mil-spec fits my hand better, the frame is more square, and is more consistant when switching from load to load, and the Loaded is slowly gaining my confidence as a carry gun, replacing my CDP pro as my carry gun, not because of reliability or accuracy issues but because I've heard one too many stories of the FPS failing. If Springfield made a comander sized gun that had a regular bushing set up like a Colt then I probably would have got one of those. I'm thinking my next 1911 is going to be a Nighthawk T3 because I'm ready to make the step up to a custom made gun and that package Comander slide/Officers grip frame is my Ideal carry gun. Of course it costs $2400 dollars so it may be a while before I can save the pennies for it.
