Stainless Mil-Spec Price Check

I've gotta used Springfield Mil-spec in stainless on hold at a local shop. $480 with (1) mag shot through it. Owner traded it and another gun in on a Beretta . Anyway, I'm supposed to go look at it again at lunch. My buddy that works there said they haven't been able to get a mil-spec from Springfield in months, so the price might be a little more than average. Does it sound like a decent deal? Or should I pass on it?

I'd jump on it. I've been trying to get on locally for a few weeks now to no avail.

That's what I like to hear.

Sad thing it I wasn't even looking for one. I looked at it yesterday and decided no. Then I received my Crimson Trace grips that I bought off ebay for my Ultra. They sent the commander length ones instead and I hate sending stuff back. So as I drive into work this morning looking at the wrong grips, my sick mind says "Well you really could use a full-size, bullet-proof 1911. Think of all the accessories that are available. And you have a set of CT grips that will fit it perfectly. You bought some slim grips for the ultra anyway."

My wife's gonna kick my a..... when she finds out I did it again. Probably gonna have to sell something to make up for it.

Dont be supprised if it isnt reliable right away, alot of Springers have been leaving the factory lately with improperly adjusted extractors. If you have any problems leave a message and I'll walk you through adjusting it. It really only takes a couple of minuites.

Yes, re-tensioning the extractor takes maybe 10 minutes.

My GI was also tossing empty brass right at my forehead. That too was easily remedied by stoning and changing the angle on the ejector.

Now, my 430 dollar GI is ten times more reliable than both my Colts were out of the box. About as accurate, too. A pleasant surprise.

You might love the Mil-Spec. Springer's lower level 1911s are very good guns for the money if you ask me.

Guess we'll soon find out. She's out in my truck now. Did notice it has the dummy scratch already on it. Saves the embarrassment of me doing it myself.

So where is the cheapest place to find some Wilson mags? I'm assuming the 8rd 47D's would fit just fine?

Brickboy, don't you have a sistema and a series 70? You bought both of these new, as that is "out of the box". I would not have guessed you were old enough to have a new sistema and I'm sure you said you bought the series 70 used.

If you did not get these new quoting "out of the box" experience is very misleading, especially with a sistema. Even a 20+ year old series 70.

If you have colts that you bought new I will ask what problems you had that were 10 times worse.
