Well I just ordered a new SA 1911-A1

loaded target in black stainless. I think the part number was px9152lp. I immediately bought a cheapo shoulder holster on Ebay for when I ride the bike and ordered a crossbreed supertuck (thanks Mark!) for regular street clothes.

Any suggestions for different holsters or must haves for this gun? Likes/dislikes?

I usually carry my xd sc 9mm. Want to try the .45 for regular carry.

A buddy of mine has a Dakota Defender from K&D Holsters and it's fantastic for the 1911. I tried it on with mine and it was very nice.

i also have a loaded model. I carry daily in a Don Hume leather IWB holster that i picked up for $30. I have a blackhawk CQC Serpa holster (minus that safety release button) for competition shooting. Both serve different purposes and do so well.

Kydex and bright stainless do not go together so try to stay with a leather holster, and a lined leather holster will be the easiest on the finish. With that said I really like ElPaso Saddlery leather, Kramer, Bianchi, Safariland, DeSantis and a multitude of other custom makers. If you know any other 1911 afficienado's they will normally have a lot of differant holsters for differant occasions, see if they will let you try them out.

I have a KD Dakota Defender for my 4" XD45 and it really is a nice piece of work. Well worth the wait time (4 mos).

For my 1911 (4", not full 5") I ordered a Galco NSA II IWB and the 1911 and it, fits me better than my KD Dakota Defender IWB and my 4" XD. I will eventually carry both...but the 1911 is held nice and tight to my body and the holster itself is slimmer, less bulky design (it's only got 1 clip at the rear)....so it conceals much better for me. Not a direct comparison because of the different guns....but the NSA really fits so well.

Here's the NSA II: http://tacticalproductsgunholsters.s...alconsaii.html

I had mentioned it earlier in another thread:
Suggest a holseter for a Springfield micro compact

Beautiful gun too...best of luck w/it!!

Cheers! M2

I bought the PX9154LP, Black Combat. I wear it in a Don Hume Agent 3 Slot. I think it was $67.00. Very comfortable. I have several Hume holsters, good quality and inexpensive, not cheap!
