PT1911 - Now what

OK so today I started my 1911 affliction (I know this is going to be as bad as the AR15 EBRD).. I snagged a great deal on a PT1911.

Gave it a nice welcome home bath and lube, interesting disassembly process compared to my P220 and XD45. Took a few tired but it's pretty easy after that.

Intended use: haven't decided yet.. Already have a much more compact CCW, already know that my P220 is going to go boom every time I pull the trigger (yes smart butts, that would be when loaded) so the only thing this has going over the SIG is the rail and TRL-1 already installed.

I've started researching and will spend a fair amount of time learning, but I'd like an idea of what I should be looking at improving with this new toy.

1. Grips for damn sure are going away
2. Night sights - Who's though? Which ones are not going to go costing me a chunk of change with the Gunsmith too..
3. Mags - McCormick good, Novak bad right?
4. Thinking Blade-Tec for the OWB holster, but that is all personal preference any way you look at it.

Couldn't get it broken down all of the way to the firing pin, but I'll figure that out as well.

What am I missing in a general sense?

Congrats on the new toy!

I've been looking to get a PT1911 for some time now. I shoot my friends every time I go see him, then I go back and forth about whether I want one or not. I finally decided for the package and the price I have to try one.

I kind of like the Heine straight 8's, but sights are a bit of personal preference, as are holsters.

I'm not sure if it can be done, but I plan on looking into possibly replacing the hammer, etc to remove or otherwise permanently dis-engage the locking system.

I have had no problems with the Novak mags in my PT-1911.....I also bought them here from a list member( see above guy )and have even swapped a few with another with no complaints.

Enjoy the gun.....I'm very happy with mine and have had no problems in close to 1000 rds. I'd put it up against any 1911 in the same price range.

My PT1911 has the Heinie Straight 8 night sights - Trijicon inserts.

That gun is a tack driver if the sights are adjusted properly.

1. I like both the look and feel of the Pachmayr Rosewood & Rubber Grips
2. Here are a couple of options for Taurus Night Sights Heine and PT
3. You can't go wrong with Wilson 47Ds
4. I really like the Blackhawk Serpa CQC for a holster

I like the Serpa also but it seems to be alot harder on the finish of my 1911's than any of my other holsters.
