Biggest problem most folks have with this is making sure to keep the inside free of any grit. Same problem exists with leather holsters but the grit I think tends to hide in the grain of leather.

If you make sure to keep them good and clean I haven't noticed any difference.

I'm not what you would call a Blackhawk supporter for many reasons. I'll snag a Blade-Tech stingray owb for it if I feel the need to carry it, other wise I've got a few nice holsters for those tacti-cool / the Zombies are coming, the Zombies are coming moments

The biggest thing I'm looking at aside from shooting the hell out of it when the weather warms up is changing those crappy grips. The PacMyer rosewood/rubberized ones look dern nice, but, I think I'll give the Houge wrap a-rounds a try first. They sit on my P220 and PT92. Not to mention at $15 they aren't a wallet killer.

The ambi-safety does seem a bit... loose I guess is the right word. I can already see where I'll have to adjust my grip a bit to keep from tapping it with my thumb during recoil.

About the mags.. I was just asking if there were issues with the Novaks.. rumor mill has noted that the feed lips have been cracking a lot. No worries, I'll give a few different brands a try.

Last question for the moment. I'm noticing in the manual (yeah I had to RTFM) that they're saying to use 230grn only. I've been mostly using 180's (pretty sure they're 180's or is it 185grn)... and know issues with the lighter weights?

Fixed sights are probably regulated for the 230's any other weight will probably mean replacing the front sight to the proper height.

I'm probably approaching 500 rds through mine so far and no issues yet.

The first two rounds nose dived out of the mag but that was a tight mag issue. Mine is running really nice right now and very accurate. I may have to take it over to Tussey Custom and have them adjust the extractor though. Not always but every now and then the ejecting brass nicks the slide just behind the ejection port leaving little brass streaks on the bluing. It comes off with brass removing solvent but it is a little annoying.

Yup.. could have gotten the non-railed version for $489, but I've been holding out for the rail, already slapped a TRL-1 on it, even without it's a heavy pig, hence it's unlikely elevation to my carry gun.

Yup, I fondled the rail version. First thing I thought was this thing's a hog. Post pics!

yuk, rubber doesn't belong on a 1911

they probably recommend the 230gr only for feeding reliability

bout time you got a 1911, even if it isn't a Colt

Dammit man.

If you want to replace the thumb safety, get a hold of Rob. Also.....for your mags, Shooting Star mags work great, I'll loan you a few of mine to run through it and check the function. You'll also want to talk to Rob about that......

Let's go have a 1911 shoot out now.
